Loreto Normanhurst Advances 30-Year Master Plan Vision with Next Phase of Campus Transformation

Exciting developments include revitalised learning environments, new specialist precincts, and a modern boarding house set to open in 2026.

Loreto Normanhurst has announced the launch of Phase 2 of its bold 30-Year Master Plan, marking a significant milestone in the school’s long-term vision to transform its campus.

Building on a 127-year legacy of educating and empowering young women, Phase 2 will deliver revitalised learning environments, new specialist precincts, and the repurposing of heritage spaces - ensuring the school continues to meet the needs of future learners.

Phase 1: Boarding House Construction

The first phase of the Master Plan, which began in 2022, includes the construction of a state-of-the-art Boarding House. This purpose-built facility is scheduled to open in 2026 and will accommodate 216 students. The new Boarding House will offer contemporary, flexible residential spaces designed to meet the needs of future boarders.

A key feature of the new Boarding House will be its sustainable design, with ecologically responsible building practices to ensure the school meets the highest environmental standards.

Phase 2: Launch of New Learning Precincts

Loreto Normanhurst is undertaking significant upgrades to ensure its educational spaces continue to reflect and support the evolving needs of its community. The second phase of the Master Plan, which is set to unfold over the next five to ten years, will see the creation of purpose-built precincts for Technologies and Music, expanded general learning areas realigned in the current Technologies and Music spaces, and repurposing the spaces currently occupied by boarding.

Key Developments in Stage 2 of the Master Plan include:

  • A new Technologies Precinct, designed to support learning in food technology, hospitality, digital technologies, textiles, and design.
  • A purpose-built Music Precinct, expanding opportunities in music and performance with specialised rehearsal and creative spaces.
  • Expanded general learning spaces to meet growing demand for modern, adaptable environments that support interdisciplinary learning.
  • Repurposed heritage buildings, including the current boarding school, to create new classrooms, flexible open learning zones, and staff spaces.

In reflecting on the significance of the Master Plan's continued evolution, Loreto Normanhurst Principal Marina Ugonotti shared:

"Our Master Plan is about more than buildings - it’s about shaping spaces that reflect how our students learn, collaborate and grow. We’re proud to be investing in an educational environment that blends innovation with our rich Loreto heritage."

A key focus of Loreto Normanhurst’s Master Plan is the repurposing of existing spaces, rather than building entirely new structures. This approach ensures new facilities are integrated into the existing campus layout, preserving the school’s heritage character while supporting contemporary learning needs. It also promotes a more sustainable, cohesive campus environment.

These upgrades follow key milestones already achieved over the last three years, including the opening of integrated learning spaces, new tennis courts, and the purpose-built Agricultural Technologies Centre, ‘Osborn Orchards’. Enhancements to traffic flow and restoration of heritage features also reflect Loreto Normanhurst’s holistic approach to campus development.

“Our vision is to create a unified, future-ready campus that nurtures the whole student,” Ms Ugonotti added. “Through this next chapter, Loreto Normanhurst continues to lead with heart, purpose and innovation.”
